New Year - New Ways

I must admit the Maddux family is looking forward to 2009. We had a long year with a move, new jobs, living in an apartment after living in a beautiful home and overall readjusting to Dallas all over again. It was kind of exhausting and as much as I hate to admit it was refreshing to take the last two weeks to relax with Justin and reflect on the year. If you would have asked me 7 years ago when I gratuated if this is where I thought I would be I would definitely tell you no but I guess that's the beauty of life, you never know what's going to evolve. It's like a choose your own adventure book. This year I get to look forward to a new house, my 30th birthday, another new niece or nephew and who knows what else with the way our family works!

Last year was the first year EVER I stuck with my resolution, I had said I was going to be more "green". I made 12 changes in 12 months to form new habits and think a bit more about my surroundings. It was encouraging and brought on much stress as I tried to "top" it this year. So in the spirit of the new year I thought I'd share our New Years resloutions.

Justin is going to not let "good enough" be good enough. I don't know what that means exactly, it's a little too vague. I summarized it as never settling. Personally I think he selects something that is subjective so that he always keeps his resolution. I am going to focus on improving in 3 ways...body, mind and soul. I am going to run a 5K, read 6 books and join a bible study (after we join our church). Amazingly enough these are things I used to do regularly at some point in life and have let slip away because life got busy. 2009 is a year for me to refresh and re energize. I am so blessed for all the experiences I have had and I want to really focus on being well rounded so that my children can learn from my example.

We had a wonderful New Years; ringing it in with the Jarvis family. Jeff and Emily were close friends of ours when we lived here before and they are one of the families we are so lucky to have close by. They are part of what makes Dallas feel like home. Its going to be a great year - I pray for all our family & friends, that they continue to be blessed each day!
